Wholly welcome in a snow ridden January. Beautifully written - definitely grown up prose but not inaccessible. Imagery is compelling - the Gotham analogy is priceless for any Batman fan. On the button. Beguiling hero (yes, it is OK for a man to be this) and temptress heroine evokes a mix of Holden Caulfield and Jack Kerouac in the date rape drug culture. A younger Zach Braff would be crying out to play this character in a film. Anyone who has travelled in South America will nod in recognition and anyone who hasn't (moi) will be a bit scared at the prospect.
